Drama school

On the corner of Kiriku square is the home of one of the two theatre schools in Estonia.

The department of drama of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre was founded in the fifties by Voldemar Panso. He was an Estonian theatre director, actor and pedagogue and based his actor training method on the methods of Stanislavski. In the 1990s the school opened up to different teaching methods from around the world. Most of the current Estonian actors and directors have graduated from this department. A rather lively wall plaque commemorating Voldemar Panso can be seen on the side wall of the school.
